 Time was when a village library would be able to offer its community only the library's own small collection. Well, times have changed! If you haven't visited the Tivoli Free Library recently, stop by and learn about our twenty-first-century services.

Tivoli is fortunate in having such a valuable institution—one that not only retains the personal connection that goes with being part of a small community, but also provides entry into a world of reading pleasures, learning, and information. The Tivoli Free Library serves its patrons through:

• A growing permanent collection, access to the Mid-Hudson Library System collection, rotating collections of large-print books and mysteries, local history and Hudson River collections, DVDs, audio tapes, newspapers, magazines
• Access to books in regular and academic libraries across the country
• Computers for public use to make available the electronic reference material in the library's collection and the vast resources of the Internet
• A Web site that allows patrons to browse the catalogue, reserve books, and renew borrowed material from home and to tap into reference databases
• Services for the community, such as reading programs and activities for children of all ages, home delivery for the elderly or housebound, a book group for adults, meetings with local authors, evening family activities
• An award-winning director, Bonny Corrado, who knows the community as well as she knows the Library.

 You can help ensure that the Tivoli Free Library will continue to serve the community and to grow. The most important thing you can do is to use the library. Take advantage of its services. Let the library know what additional services you would like to have. Get a card. And bring your children!
 
 If you want to do something more, become a Friend of the Library. Contributions of money, materials or time are equally welcome. Volunteers keep the library's programs going and make it possible for us to launch new ones. The library needs people during regular hours for filing, shelving, bar coding and other tasks. It needs volunteers for its preschool and reading programs and its chess club, too. It needs helpers for special events such as family nights and author readings. It needs people to develop ideas for publicity and fund raising.
